318. May 23rd… “Traducteur d’oiseau” …now that’s an exciting position….sounds a lot better than just plain “Bird Translator” ….don’t you think???

“Vines” 2008

“The most distressing thing that can happen to a prophet is to be proved wrong. The next most distressing thing is to be proved right.” – Aldous Huxley

I was listening to a bird singing this morning…a bit after 6:30…..it had a beautiful song and was repetitious for awhile…kind of a peaceful alarm clock…but after about ten minutes…it would sing…stop….add something else to it I’d not heard…. and sing some more…..then it would sing the same song…but  add a series of different endings….no two endings were alike…. it seemed maybe the bird was confused…you know like listening to “Purple Haze”…but in Muzak…..at a restaurant….and trying to figure out what the song really is….I didn’t know birds sang a bunch of different songs….I’d like to know what the songs are all about….who knows…maybe his greatest hits…..or maybe the bird was telling me something…..I just need to listen more…..

that is the nature of simplicity….”absence of luxury, pretentiousness, ornament, etc.; plainness“….a bird song simple sort of life…..would be so easy to live….folding colored papers into shapes all day…warming myself in the afternoon fall sun….watching the ocean come and go…..turning where the turns are….straight where it’s straight………

enjoy your Sunday….and the rest of the week……
