394. August 26th…. Quality is….like how a pair of shoes fit…….

“The Purity of Blood” 2010

“There are few people who are more often in the wrong than those who cannot endure to be so.” – Francois De la Rochefoucauld

the quality of something…no matter what that something is…deceides if it will survive or is one of those Christmas morning items that break within 10 minutes of use time….

when the quality in anything is evident…and it breaks…there is a reason to repair it based on what value has been placed upon it….not what it is or how much it costs…it is our level of attachment….yet often no matter how important repairing the item is….the repair now has perhaps made it useless….just a look….of what it once was….what it did…may not be possible again….so it becomes something else…other than what it was designed to be….

we’re no different…we have all been actors…and played many different roles….some for a great length of time while others have been quick and established differently…where…what and especially who we wanted to be….at times… other people decided for us…..maybe driven by their personal motivations or just maybe the puzzle they work has completely different pieces than the one we work….

either way it comes down to the level of quality of the life one wants to live…..we ultimately decide what that is….and how we are going to approach that life….figuring out the way to live it consistently…..and the quality appears like an Armani Label on a suit…..or what it feels like to know true place…and own it…..there doesn’t need to be a great deal of conversation..after that…..it oozes out through all of the small cracks….and becomes evident….

so we strive for a level of quality…that matches our need….and maybe that’s the chicken and the egg conversation….but what matters is a level of quality exists in our lives and we either recognize that or we don’t…..and it is important or it is not…..and we want more quality or we don’t….but bottom line…..there is absolutely no difference between a Waterford Crystal…glass……and the big blue plastic cups from Walmart…..they both do what they are designed to do…until broken…then with a bit of inginuity…..some super glue and clear tape….maybe they hold loose change….who knows…..

“Eventually everything connects – people, ideas, objects. The quality of the connections is the key to quality per se.” – Charles Eames

speaking of quality…I want to plug a local business…agoodsignabq.com .Yesterday I picked up the first set of prints on canvas from the series of   photographs I’ve been working on robertredusfineart.wordpress.com/photographs-overlayed/ . The prints are unreal…and wonderfully done…..they are affordable and there are discounts if you know what to do….( tell her I sent you)…..Tami Abts the owner of … ” a good sign”… is really great to work with and produces a fantastic product…… you don’t need to look any further….

  1. Cool, about the prints! It’s a godsend to hook up with those helpful on the front lines of art~making.

I absolutely love the spirit of grace in this post. Especially:

either way it comes down to the level of quality of the life one wants to live…..we ultimately decide what that is….and how we are going to approach that life….figuring out the way to live it consistently…..and the quality appears like an Armani Label on a suit…..or what it feels like to know true place…and own it…..there doesn’t need to be a great deal of conversation..after that…..it oozes out through all of the small cracks….and becomes evident….

This is a living truth for me right now.

Thank you for posting the way you do!!!

  2. Thanks for the comment Carmela…..each day becomes more of a microscopic look at the nature of quality vs…everything else….that comes along like some snake oil salesman…making promises…and things that were never meant to be true…..
