398. August 30th….Christopher Walken…he’s not afraid of anything either…

“Another Day on the Cross Revisited” 2010

“There are only two or three human stories, and they go on repeating themselves as fiercely as if they had never happened before.” – Willa Cather

a Monday that has already begun with incomparable proportions….the usual “Monday Stuff”…has somehow escalated to a day already full of postponement due to a lack of prepardness….thinking somehow…what was going to happen was going to happen because I’d thought enough about it…to sort of have it happen on its own… like magically cleaning the kitchen because I wanted it clean…it’s not often I fall into this crevasse…yet when I do….what a wild time it becomes….if I call from Pamplona Spain in the next couple of days…..the situation has dynamically increased in timbre….and I am off pursuing some hidden dream of studying the art of making Spanish pastries…. and pouring wine from high above the glass….so be prepared….not only the Boy Scout motto…..but the phrase of the day……for me…..

often chasing anything keeps that anything just far enough away that the chase will continue…until….the worth of the object becomes less than the value of the pursuit….and I believe that to be true with people….dreams…ideas…….just about everything that requires faster…constant steps to attainment….deliberate thinking and pursuit might be the same…but for some reason the word deliberate seems more sloth like and calculated….something that if enough raindrops repeatedly strike the same rock in the same place….there just might be a noticeable change to the surface of the rock in a few hundred years…

Deliberate: leisurely and steady in movement or action; slow and even; unhurried….

Christopher Walken is a seemingly deliberate sort of person to me….I especially love his dance routine in “Weapon of Choice” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZbckwYY9r4 ….that defines DELIBERATE in a Las Vegas sort of neon lights….way…that’s the sort of deliberate I’m talking about…we don’t know what he’s been thinking or how long he’s been thinking it….but when it happens….it’s like he already did this….in his mind a few thousand times…and this was the shining moment….

so this got me thinking…about the antonym for deliberate…which is “Chance”…..and how thinking and acting from chance….allows for the Boy Scout Motto to be far to overwhelmed with having to “Be Prepared” …as you have to be prepared for everything…that might arise…virtually an endless possibility of unknowns….while using Deliberate thinking and action requires being prepared for what applies to the possibilities with in the plan….the small pail of beach sand rather than the entire beach….”hmmm”…he said as he packed his few belongings for the possible 16 hour flight to Madrid…then a drive north…..

I am a rather deliberate person…..but the general nature of my being is a wonderment…about possibilities….which opens the door for chance to come pouring through….so how does one live deliberately while at the same time…. change their middle name to “Chance”…..

perhaps it is really about having some of each…deciding when to be deliberate and calculated….and then there are those days….where walking with a blindfold on all day is a wonderful way of experiencing something different…as long as there are no automobiles or sharp instruments are involved….

and maybe thrown in a little Christopher Walken thinking….and by days end…..dancing may have been one of those things you might have suppressed for some really silly reason……

“I am deliberate and afraid of nothing.” – Audre Lorde

“Neither is Christopher Walken” – Robert Redus
