342. June 20th…..Vietnam and the Exxon Valdez….they sound kind of Familiar….I’ve heard of them before…..

another peaceful Sunday on the banks of the mighty Rio Grande…..we are in a very tumultuous time…our country embroiled in 2 wars….an environmental disaster we have ever yet to see with an impact that will last well into the next few decades….and we seem to be going about business as usual…..I am surprised at the level of disinterest…of many people…..especially younger people who are going to have to deal with all of these problems in a much greater capacity than the …..”Baby Boomers” ….

I recall during the war in Vietnam…(which it never was called a war)…the streets…college campuses…. communities were up in arms protesting what has clearly been established historically as a giant mistake….58,000 Americans lost their lives….countless thousands more were damaged for the rest of their lives….to accomplish….what……cease the threat of communism…or was it to advance big business interests…..what we are experiencing at this moment….the foreign wars…the gulf oil spill are nothing more than a revisiting of what we have seen before….want to know the outcome….of all of them….look at history…..The Exxon Valdez….Oil spill…..in Alaska….is still trying to settle claims….after well over 18 years…..Exxon merged with Mobile….gained more power….to approach the Supreme Court….make demands…win those demands and basically they have made 160 billion dollar profits off of the original 5 billion they had set aside to pay compensation for those in Alaska who were affected by their negligence…..sounding familiar…..except now it’s 20 billion……

and are we stemming the tide of….tyranny….oppression….eliminating “Evil doers”…..in both Afghanistan and Iraq….like the Vietnamese…who had ZERO benefit from our presence other than a serious cleansing of the population via genocide……seems big business is getting the advantage in these countries….hey……what about the enticing 20 trillion dollar mineral discovery in Afghanistan….wow!!!…..what a coincidence…..and we just happen to be there…..and willing to supply all of the necessary help to aid in elevating Afghanistan from a Third world country to a First world nation…man are we swell……and the rich get richer ….the rest get what they can……

Warren Buffett and Bill Gates are asking the top fortune 400 to give away 50% of their wealth to charity either in their life time or upon their death….Buffett is worth approx 50 billion dollars….if he gives away 50% or 25 billion…..he still has 25 billion to play with…live on and make  more with…..this really makes sense….here is the link ….http://www.ctv.ca/CTVNews/World/20100618/billionaires-buffett-gates-100619/ Buffett has proposed giving away 99% of his money….whether he does it or not is another story but both he and Gates have started a rumble…people are getting on board with this…..and it is a wonderful thing….

I’ve heard all of the tea party rhetoric…I’m willing to listen too…and of all of it…do agree with one thing…it is time we take back our country…flush the incumbents…..get new “Honest” blood into politics….if that’s possible…and make those who profit off of their own negligence and dishonesty pay severely….

examples work….maybe BP should be the first example that has the people’s concerns and rights highlighted…..and on the forefront…..and maybe rather than BP being given the opportunity to present their case to the Supreme Court…..buy what they can with their power….they should have to present their case at the local Dairy Queen to the residents in Venice Louisiana…..and what those say…..goes……….
